What We Do In PE

Why PE is important to kiddos

Overall View of PE

The goal is to get students excited about moving their bodies in productive ways. I will do my best to present all different types of games and activities so that students can find some way or another that they enjoy moving. We cover sports (basketball, volleyball, football, baseball/softball, etc.) to fun movement activities (parachute, scooters, rock wall climbing, tumbling, etc..) I also get a chance to see students in a 25 minute extra PE session each week. During this time we will be talking about the body and how it functions as well as why physical activity is important. I want students to have opportunities to learn and develop as much knowledge as possible so they can decide what works for them. 

Regular PE (50 minute session)

During this time we will be doing the majority of our sports and games. In regular PE we will always warm up our bodies before the game or activity and then cool down after the game or activity. Warm up includes jumping jacks, running,  static stretching, dynamic stretching (plyometrics,) strengthening and balance. Cool down includes walking with a period of deep breathing for calmness and relaxation. Sports and activities are basketball, kickball, wiffle ball, football, volleyball, scooters, rock climbing, parachute, tag games, capture the chicken, soccer and much more. 

Extra PE (25 minute Session)

During this time we will be learning about how the body functions and why it's important to be physically active. We will do dynamic stretches to warm up followed by a lesson in health. The lessons we will be covering are more health related including the body systems (skeletal, muscular, nervous, cardiovascular, respiratory, and digestive,) nutrition (food groups, food labels, healthy eating choices,) physical activity/fitness (warm up, cool down, heart rate, bone and muscle growth,) emergencies (minor and major wounds, 911 calls,) dealing with strangers and much more.
